A podium return for Wrathall
After the six weeks summer break it feels good to return to the thrills and spills that only the circuit of Snetterton can produce. The G50 Championship has added some new blood to the grid including former BTCC competitor, Charlie Butler-Henderson
QUALIFYING QUALIFYING (Saturday) The dry 20 minute qualifying session produced a hectic and very close fought battle with only one second separating the top ten drivers. Frank's consistent laps time put the Dynojet car 6th, 5th and 4th on the grid for the three races of the weekend. Frank: 'I wasn't too pleased with my pace overall, as we were lacking a couple of tenths here and there, although I was able to be very consistent and proved that we had race pace. Even though 6th wasn't what we were looking for, we are starting on the second row of the grid for the third race, which gives the team the chance of a top result'.
RACE 1 Frank made a tremendous start in race 1, slotting the Dynojet car into 3rd spot. As the cars streaked down the ultra fast Revett Straight, he was poised to do battle with the front runners of Carl Breeze and Christian Dick. This assault was brought to a premature holt when flying debris from a competitors car ripped through the front tyre and Frank had to retire from the race. Frank: "I made a really good start, as I came off the line very well. The Dynojet car felt really good. Unfortunately I picked up some debris on the front left tyre in the second corner, although I managed to keep going for another lap. The tyre eventually gave way and I had to retire. It was such a freak accident, and a waste of what was building up to be a good race".
RACE 2 A dry second race saw a close battle between Frank, Christian Dick, Nathan Freke, Fulvio Mussi and Chris Dittman for second spot, as Carl Breeze dominated at his home track, and stretched his lead in the race. It was nip and tuck all the way culminating with the trio of Frank, Dick and Mussi running three abreast down the long Rivett Straight, making a crowd thrilling sight, with such close racing. Frank brought the Dynojet car home in 4th and add some much needed championship points. Frank: "It was a frantic race out there, and good fun to be involved in. Unfortunately I just made a couple of mistakes which stopped me getting on the podium. However this was still a good result after the disappointment of the first race, and will hopefully set me up for a good final race tomorrow".
RACE 3 Frank made a great getaway from the second row of the grid and slotted straight into second place going into Sears corner. He shadowed Carl Breeze and applied serious pressure for the duration of the 18 lap race, but no mistakes by Breeze kept Frank in second, piping him to the post by only eight 10ths of a second, with Nathan Freke a further two second adrift in third place. Frank: "It was a tough weekend and, unfortunately for us, Carl has been ultra quick. I just couldn't manage to find a way past him but to finish second today is a good result. The Dynojet team have once again given me a great car to race and I'm pleased to give them this result".
