Frank maintains second in championship standings in the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car

Round's eleven and twelve of the Ginetta G50 Cup Championship headed for Thruxton racing circuit last weekend. Thruxton is Britain's fastest circuit in terms of reaching high speeds, particularly out of Church at the back of the circuit and along Brooklands towards the Grandstand at Club Chicane.

Saturday morning free practice was dedicated to 'bedding-in' new brake discs. The fifteen minute afternoon qualifying was held in dry conditions. The bumpy surface of the track hindered Frank's progress, as the stiff chassis set up caused handling problems. Inspection of the car later revealed a broken spring retainer on the rear, and a flat front tyre. Despite this Frank still qualified 5th for both races.

Frank made a rapid start in race one, but was boxed in by a snarling pack at the Complex, emerging 7th at the end of the first hectic lap. He was able to use his race craft to make progress up the order and was locked in a lengthy dual for 4th place. Frank came out on top with a last lap challenge into Club Chicane bringing the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car home in a well fought 4th place.

Another hard charge in race two allowed Frank to manoeuvre into 4th slot, then up to 3rd by lap 3. For the second time this year Frank's fortunes were down, as an incident at the Club Chicane, led to contact from Christian Dick and subsequent damage to the car. Frank limped into the pits to make some adjustments, and rejoined the race making the most of his problems to finish 13th to earn valuable championship points.

Frank Jnr commented: 'I have been struggling for pace all weekend, which was totally down to me. I didn't feel comfortable over the bumps and was losing a lot of time round the fast parts of the circuit. This meant both races were going to be hard fought. I felt I was making good progress but when your are battling so close at a circuit like this, contact is inevitable."
